Cause

Many senior citizens in fact many people in their late fifties forget their many important works. This has been a major problem for the old people especially where they have to take the support of others to overcome this issue. There has been much research going on for this issue and the solution for this issue is in great demand. As people grow older, they experience physiological changes that can cause glitches in brain functions they've always taken for granted. It takes longer to learn and recall information.

There are 2 diseases that are very common in elderly people called dementia and Alzheimer and they suffer from memory problems.

Dementia - A group of symptoms that affects memory, thinking, and interferes with daily life.

Alzheimer - A type of brain disorder that causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior.

We have seen our grandparents facing the issue of forgetting their small things like spectacles, TV remote, ring, etc. here and there, and then they ask the younger people to find stuff for them. While doing our research, we even found people who have issues in remembering people whom they talked to earlier and they find it easy to remember when they are told of some context related to that person.

Major reasons for memory loss in old people:

  • The hippocampus, a region of the brain involved in the formation and retrieval of memories, often deteriorates with age.
  • Hormones and proteins that protect and repair brain cells and stimulate neural growth also decline with age.
  • Older people often experience decreased blood flow to the brain, which can impair memory and lead to changes in cognitive skills.
